Joint Pain Treatment: Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions about bone and joint nutrition at Ravide Wellness, answered honestly.
Which bone and joint problems do you treat?
Osteoporosis and osteopenia, osteoarthritis of the knee, hip and spine, vitamin D and calcium deficiency, general joint stiffness and back pain, and the nutrition side of inflammatory conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis. In inflammatory arthritis our role is supportive, working around the treatment your rheumatologist has already prescribed.
Can arthritis be cured, or only managed?
No. Diet cannot cure arthritis, and lost bone density is not rebuilt by food alone. What nutrition does reliably is correct deficiencies that make everything worse, supply the calcium, protein and vitamin D bone repair depends on, reduce inflammatory load, and support a body weight that puts less pressure on weight-bearing joints. Those are meaningful gains, but they are gains, not cures.
Do I need calcium and vitamin D supplements for weak bones?
Sometimes, but not automatically. We look at your diet and your reports first, because many people can reach adequate calcium through dairy, ragi, sesame, greens and small fish. Where a genuine gap exists, particularly with vitamin D, supplementation is recommended in a monitored way. Taking high-dose calcium without need is not harmless, so we avoid guessing.
Is protein important for joint pain, or only calcium?
Protein matters more than most people expect. The muscle surrounding a joint absorbs load and stabilises it, and muscle is lost quickly with age and inactivity. We routinely find Indian vegetarian diets are adequate in carbohydrate and low in protein, which weakens that support system. Correcting protein intake and spreading it through the day is often as useful as the calcium conversation.
Does losing weight help knee pain?
For knee and hip osteoarthritis, it frequently helps a great deal, because these joints carry several times your body weight with every step. That said, weight loss is only one part of the plan, and it is never the whole answer — deficiency correction, protein, inflammation and movement all sit alongside it. We do not use aggressive crash dieting, which costs muscle and makes joints worse.
How long does joint pain treatment take to work?
Energy, morning stiffness and general aches often shift within four to eight weeks, particularly where a vitamin D or B12 deficiency is being corrected. Bone density changes are far slower and are measured over a year or more on repeat scans. We set that expectation honestly at the start rather than promising quick structural change.
Which Indian foods are good for strong bones?
Milk, curd and paneer remain the most reliable calcium sources for those who tolerate dairy. Beyond that, ragi is exceptionally calcium-dense, and sesame seeds, almonds, amaranth, drumstick leaves, mustard greens and small fish eaten with the bones all contribute meaningfully. Adequate protein, vitamin D and vitamin K from greens matter alongside them, since calcium alone is not what builds bone.
How do I start joint pain treatment in Hyderabad?
Book a consultation and bring any recent vitamin D, calcium, B12 and thyroid reports, plus DEXA scan results if you have had one. At our Hyderabad centre we review those alongside your pain pattern and eating habits, then build a bone and joint health diet you can follow at home. Progress is reviewed as your reports and mobility change.
